Poppy Cottage in the Pines

The house served as a great launching pad for the days' various activities. The neighborhood was quiet and the house's interior was clean. The outside could have used some time with a leaf blower, but that's a minor detail.

This probably was the worst house that I have rented. Although the layout and decor was pleasant, it was very deceiving. Master shower was very hard to turn on. It actually was painful. Decks were dirty and patio furniture was filthy. It was advertised as having a backyard but was a small long filthy little dog run. We couldn’t use the BBQ because it was rusty and dirty. It was advertised having a washer and dryer but it was outside in a dirty shed and the dryer didn’t work. Company suggested we take our dirty laundry home. This house is not walking distance to the ocean as they said it was. I feel that when you spend a lot of money to rent a vacation home, it should be clean.

This was our second stay at Poppy Cottage. We absolutely love the peace and quiet, comfortable bedding and all of the wildlife. It was especially nice to be able to bring our dog, Winnie, with us. She loved watching the deer pass by everyday. We will definitely be back.

This is a lovely house with lots of light and a great kitchen that is well stocked with all of the tools that you will need to make great meals. The back yard is tiny and very shaded but a great place for dogs to nose around and it has a great gas grill. We found the sleeping arrangements a bit difficult, the bedroom on the ground floor is RIGHT NEXT TO the living room so if some is going to bed early, expect to be very quiet the rest of the night. The upstairs primary bedroom is open to the living room below so that too hears every sound from below. The beds are comfortable with lots of pillows and extra if needed. We did not use the pull out bed in the room attached to the primary bedroom but that is probably the nicest in the house with lots of light, a lovely balcony and nicely decorated. We visited in early July and it was very cool with a lot of fog, the fireplace and Centeral heating were very appreciated.

What a magical place with a dear family, and a gaggle of turkeys foraging through the property. The clouds will come through the trees making that evening misty and beautiful. Close to Moonstone Beach and San Simeon. Great location.

The rental was everything I expected. It was in a perfect location in the hills. The beach &nd town were 5 minutes away. The cabin is well kept and very comfortable. We loved how the deer & wild turkeys were in the front yard daily. The wife, my daughter & I all had a great stay. Thank yu & hoping to return in the future.

This is one of our favorite places to stay in Cambria. It's generally above the fog and conveniently located.

WE had a wonderful time in a lovely house!

The cottage was beautiful, well stocked and comfortable. There is a small pull out dining table and a lovely patio table and chairs under the trees. The auxiliary room is a great den/spare sleeping area but it was a little too cool for the baby in March. Wild turkey and deer passed through the yard multiple times a day. A pleasant five blocks from the trails and coastal views of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. There is a nice path through the wooded Strawberry Canyon nearby but use care, we found a tick afterwards; we always check. Great restaurants—Robbins, Hidden Kitchen, and The Spot. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The Poppy Cottage has lots of charm! It was very clean and well appointed, sits back in a very quiet neighborhood in the forest, with daily visits from wild turkeys wandering the neighborhood. Well appointed kitchen, and one upstairs large bedroom with spacious walk in shower, and a small downstairs bedroom with a comfy mattress. The kitchen was very nice with newer appliances. The house sits on a steep driveway incline, but has room for two smaller cars to sit on flat ground at top of hill in garage and adjacent to garage. Very nice cottage!

Our family has stayed at the Poppy house numerous times. All enjoy the property and the kitchen so well equipped. The patio area very nice to enjoy the outdoors watching the wildlife too. The management company is very good with all arrangements. The many times we booked with them never a problem.

Nice cottage in the outskirts of Cambria. Great walks from the font door. Unfortunately the outside furniture was dirty and could not be used. I dont think the furniture had been cleaned for some time. Check in/out was contact free but the padlock system for check in is somewhat fiddly.

Poppy Cottage is such a great location. Deer and turkey come and graze in the yard and rest.Our dog loves to watch them through the big window in the living room. We do too. Has all the amenities one would need.Quiet neighborhood for a relaxing time.

This was our second stay at Poppy Cottage. Great little home and a nice space for a small family or couple. The home sits in the middle of the property far enough from neighboring homes, making for a very quiet relaxing get-a-way.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Poppy Cottage, it was very restful relaxing except in a beautiful tree and sun locatio. We especially enjoyed the showers, the light coming through the trees and the small design details throughout the house. An additional feature was the daily visitation of deer and wild turkeys. We would happily come again especially if their were coupons or any discounts available

We have now stayed at this house three times. We love it. It is buried in the woods. Deer everywhere.
If you want to get away from it all and back to nature, this is a great place for it.

My wife, her sister and I enjoyed our stay at this location. It’s close to town, away from tourists and close to nature. We were surprised to see turkeys running around the neighborhood. The cabin is set back and high from the street with a very nice view of the surrounding areas. The kitchen was well equipped with cooking amenities. I enjoyed the get away/tv room upstairs. We’d like to come back to this location soon.

Our stay at Poppy Cottage was great. We enjoyed the unique lay out of the house, the well stocked kitchen, and the cozy living room with fireplace. The doggy door and yard were perfect for our two little dogs. The few negatives were that there is no inside dining table, the fold down couch in the small room is not long enough for an adult to sleep comfortably, and the carpet needs a good cleaning or replacement. Even with these small issues, we would definitely recommend this place to friends and will rent it again in the future.

We had a lovely stay at the poppy cottage. It was clean, well stocked, and very inviting. We will definitely come back when we come to Cambria. I saw a few comments about the location, We went over the hill and you were right at the entrance of Fiscalani Ranch which is a perfect beach hike. The town and Moonstone beach were a few minutes away. It's a perfect getaway as long as you understand the location is not beach front property. We hope you enjoy as much as we did!

The Poppy Cottage was spacious and clean which is just what we needed for a weekend getaway with our little guy! Kid friendly, although there are stairs so I recommend bringing a baby gate which is what we did and it worked just fine. Close to Main Street in Cambria and several walking trails. Overall great experience and easy no contact pickup/drop-off.

The Poppy Cottage was a cute stay in the Lodge Hill area of Cambria. The contactless check-in process was easy and the house was very clean. We were pleasantly surprised to find a doggy door for our pup to let herself out at night and in the very early morning when we weren't out for walks. Location is a short drive from most things, but not very walkable if you're looking to get around by foot. Perfect spot if you're hoping to curl up with a good book for a few days in this quiet neighborhood. Wild turkeys everywhere, which was quite the sight--I've never seen so many out and about on a daily basis.

The Poppy Cottage is a great little getaway not far from the beach or town. The home was clean. The cottage is loved with functional and fun artistic features. The lot, porch and balconies provide a nice place to relax peacefully and take in the fresh sea air. The lot is big and you are spaced away from neighboring homes. The fenced yard was convenient for pets. There were ample kitchen supplies. We enjoyed our the cottage as a home away from home. I’ve already recommended the cottage to others.

The house was great. It had everything we needed for a 2 week stay; was comfortable for 4 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs. The roving gangs of turkeys and deer coming through the yard were bonus entertainment. Close to town and hiking trials. The restaurants, tasting rooms, etc. were all pretty good about COVID rules and outdoor options making it possible to enjoy Cambria while staying safe. Highly recommended; would rent again.

House location quiet, house was right size for 3 people. Needs a good deep cleaning - carpets, walls, porch, kitchen backsplash, ceiling fan. Pull-put kitchen table has loose legs that are ready to collapse. Kitchen and bathrooms were acceptably clean.

Very comfortable and unique home - we really enjoyed our stay at the Poppy Cottage. Our daughter loved the little studio room off of the master bedroom and we all loved watching the deer every morning. Would definitely stay at this home again!

Beautiful location and rich with wildlife. Enjoyed seeing the deer, wild turkeys, and funny squirrels chasing each other. Nice walk to Moonstone. We all enjoyed the Poppy Cottage and would love to stay there again.

The small fenced back yard is nice for the dogs. The house was in great shape.....clean & well cared for. Very minor hairdryer, measuring cups (not a big deal unless you were planing to bake a B-Day cake), dog friendly towels. Also a TV in the master would have been nice. Would definitely recommend this home and would not hesitate to book again. Thanks for a great week!

My former college roommate and I spent 4 days here for a "Girl's Get-away" reunion. The house was perfect in every way and so much more lovely than the photos suggest. It had everything we could need and more!

Clean, comfortable cottage. Well stocked kitchen (paper plates would have been nice to save on water), linens, etc. Beds were comfortable. Beautiful setting seeing all the deer and squirrels (sure kept our dog entertained). Close to everything! Will be back.

Poppy Cottage was a very nice place. My only complaint is it didn't seem as well stocked as other places I've rented. There was no Kleenex anywhere. The only clocks were on the microwave, oven and DVR, and the oven was wrong and the microwave said 0:00. No clocks upstairs at all. And I couldn't get the spark thing for the fireplace to work. Thought it had run out of fuel so went and bought one along with some Kleenex, only to find out it did work after all. There was a sign asking that we use the paper plates provided, but couldn't find the paper plates. Took a while to find things in the kitchen as they seemed in odd places. Thought there was no toaster as only a toaster oven was showing. Burnt a few slices before getting the jist of it. Later found a toaster in a cabinet. A list of channel numbers would be helpful. Small trifles, but can make a difference. Otherwise loved the place and will probably rent again. I'll just remember to bring my own Kleenex, a clock, zip lock bags, etc.

Scenic properties were friendly and answered all my questions before arrival. The house is very cute and quaint. Plenty of room for two of the couples who stayed and another who visited. Beds were comfortable. Upstairs shower is huge!! The rain shower head just didn't have enough pressure. A bummer they have a water shortage so we had to hurry. Would like to see the outside windows and structure washed off if water was not an issue. Well worth the nightly rate!! The deer are awesome to watch. Went to nearby Moonstone beach which is beautiful. I would recommend to property owner to purchase small LED lights or reflector tape for deck stairs. They arena bit deceiving when it's dark if you forget the porch light at night and the last step to the front door is a bit deceptive. All in all a great house and we would come back again!!

Our family LOVED this house! Everything about it worked for us. Everything was clean, it had all of the amenities that you need for a comfortable stay and beds were very comfortable. Saw several deer wandering through the yard. The house is close to everything we wanted to do and we never ran out of restaurants to enjoy in town (Sea Chest Restaurant were our favorite.) We would recommend this house to everyone and hope to come back one day.

A blissful escape into the pine and oak forest for five glorious days. The cottage has everything you can imagine to support comfort and enjoyment. We used the wireless internet to stream Netflix movies, celebrated New Year's Eve with fondue before the fireplace.

Wonderful, roomy and clean with great views from porch, windows and decks. Quite a lot of deer in and through the yard and squirrels galore. Lovely, quiet cottage.

Lots of fun style in this vacation house. Well appointed. Great neighborhood. Not near the beach, but the surrounding forest is just fine. Enjoy!

If you like having a mountain feel so close to the beach, this is the rental for you. Loved the property, the cottage was really nice. Saw plenty of deer, and wild turkeys. Very quite area and so peaceful. Close enough to anything you want to see and do.

Poppy Cottage is located in the Lodge Hill area of Cambria. House was nice and private with plenty of room for the three of us. Only negative to the cottage were the ants we had to deal with. Wildlife all around us....squirrels, deer and wild turkeys. About a 20 minute walk downhill to get to the beach or one of the entrances to Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. The Preserve is wonderful with many trails and scenery to enjoy. Our favorite restaurant in town was Indigo Moon and the salmon tacos were delicious (I had them twice). Highly recommend a trip to see the Elephant Seals at the Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Colony. Very educational!

Loved the quiet, woodsy life in July. The wild animals provided a constant show outside the front window. Owner provided abundant equipment for entertainment. A lot of fog but that is normal in July.

We enjoyed the little house in the woods. It is very quiet, some mornings there were turkeys and deer in the yard. A very nice place to stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this very special "Tree House." Every room had views of trees and the quiet area was exactly what we desired. Nice neighbors, great location and the home provided all that we needed to be comfortable. Very clean and cozy! We would go back in a heartbeat!
