Sounds of the Surf

The house layout was perfect for a get together for the 3 of us. 2 of the 3 bedrooms are huge and the third one is ample sized. It was nice for each of us to have our own bathroom.There is plenty of seating both inside and out. The beds were all very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with nice pots, pans and dishes. There were even big roasting pans and a mixer. The location is convenient to many sights. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Our only suggestions would be to have better lighting as it is a bit dark and to have some zip locks, a few more spices and olive oil in kitchen.

The house is located in a quite residential area about 15 min walk to the coast, less than a mile away from Fiscalini preserve. It’s thoughtfully designed with extra furniture items, well stocked kitchen tools and supplies, bedding and bathroom needs. The view is fantastic especially on the 2nd floor deck. Three enclosed outdoor areas to enjoy. It’s spacious yet cozy and our family of four had an amazing time. We especially liked how the downstairs is very private with a door.

The opportunities: the dishwasher needs to be either thoroughly cleaned or replaced. It’s actually disgusting and concerning as we couldn’t trust cleanness of the dinnerware in the cabinets. All dirty dishes turned up oily because it wasn’t cleaned and chalky from the detergent powder. Bathtubs drain slowly. I was told the 2nd floor is worse.

Other than the two malfunctioning items the place is clean, and almost perfect. Thank you for the hospitality!

This was such a wonderful place to stay. The home is beautiful, very comfortably furnished and the details were attended to. This was the nicest rental I’ve stayed at, and we would definitely recommend this home!

Nice property to share with friends and family.

Prior reviews were accurate, we found the home super clean and very well equipped in the kitchen. Pleasant decor, comfortable beds, and pleanty of space and bedrooms to provide privacy. Location was great for the sea view, surf sounds, and exploring hikes. The only negatives were very minor and did not impact our enjoyment one bit.

Sounds of the Surf was an amazing vacation rental. We have rented from Scenic Coast Vacation Rentals for about 20 years. We've always been pleased. We stayed nine nights. The kitchen was stocked with appliances and dishes. We always use the kitchen daily.The decks were great, views, and wildlife. It accommodated our family so well. The backyard was great with morning sun and Being. We loved it.

We had a wonderful few days at Sounds of the Surf celebrating my sister’s 80th birthday. We were able to accommodate five adults for the overnights and four more Cambria friends for the daytime party. The house is well situated and very clean. It was great to have a front patio and a big backyard! My only negative comment is about the pullout bed in the den. It is not at all comfortable and certainly would not accommodate two adults. Kids would probably be fine on it. We will definitely rent this house again. Thanks!

This was the third time we have rented this house for our annual week with our grown daughters and their guys. It’s hard to find rentals with 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. This was perfect, plus breathtaking view of the ocean and a short walk down the hill to the cliffs.

the home was lovely.....the view was awesome. it was very clean...well stocked. but could use a new set of kitchens knife.

the downstairs toilet wasn't working properly....the master bath drain was not working. we were standing in an inch of water while showering.

thought the cleaning fee was a little steep.

fabulous home. we have found our new place to stay from now on. how many dogs do you allow?

This house is perfect. I have never stayed at a home that was this clean! Spotless. Not close to the beach but the views of the ocean and the sounds of the crashing waves unbelieveable. We even caught a rainbow over the ocean one day. Simply magical. A perfect pplace for 3 couples. We will for sure be back to stay.

except for rain a couple of days itwas just about perfect in every way. wheen weather bad we stayed in cooked...ate and played games no problem ..when good visited some wineries ate at some good restaurants...great!!!

This house was very comfortable. It was extremely well maintained/updated and just right for our friends weekend. It was great to have 3 bathrooms. This is the second time we stayed in the Marine Terrace area. While it is nice, if returning to the house at night it is very dark; no street lights and a bit hard to find. A couple of suggestions: Replace the upstairs TV. It's old and small. Replace the seating on the upstairs deck. It's getting rusted.

We were very comfortable at this property for six nights. There were six of us and the place was roomy as well as the bonus of having three full baths was great. We had an issue with the coffee maker and they replaced it with a new one when contacted. It’s in a quiet neighborhood with a nice view of the ocean.
I would recommend this property to friends and family.

The things they don't tell you: That driveway is very steep, and the house is not even close to the beach. That being said, it is a GREAT house -- lots of room and a fully fenced back yard for dogs! The downstairs apartment is super, and the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms are all good. And there are deer and wild turkeys in the neighborhood!

This home has beautiful patios and decks that truly bring the beauty of outdoor living to your vacation experience. Whether you want to have coffee on the balcony overlooking your ocean view or barbecue on the cozy and secluded back patio, you will marvel at how much more space you have beyond the already well-laid out 3 BR 3BA home. Ample closets and a feeling of separation for each bedroom makes this a great place for blending couples or extended families that want to vacation together.

Layout of home was perfect for our family and dog. We enjoyed the beauty views from the master bedroom, living room, and balcony of the ocean. There were deer seen daily in the front yard and along our drives daily.

Small group of friends gathering from around the country to catch up and enjoy the beauty of CA's central coast. The house was absolutely perfect in all ways. Spacious with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable dining area and livingroom, clean and comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms,and had the weather been more conducive, we would have enjoyed the porch and patio areas. Would recommend replacing towels - they were clean but pretty well-worn. We would stay at this property again in a heartbeat...and did I mention the ocean view and sunset! Beautiful.

Experience was so good, I want to buy this place!

Disappointed in the actual upkeep of the house. I called and emailed property management Immediately as stated in my contract with many issues with the house and was made to feel that these issues were not real. Your maintenance guy came by and had to rewire the electrical outlet to the washing machine because it was stopping mid cycle full of water, it was a fire hazard, he had to attach the dishwasher so it would stop sliding around. He turned down the very hot water heater, he brought a new coffee maker because it wasn't working. But he wasn't able to fix the shower in the MB because he said it was a more serious issue that needed a plumber, when turned on the plumbing made a screeching noise that could be heard outside with no water pressure and a loose spout. The TV sound is going out upstairs and the microwave sounds like it also is on its last leg. The towels in the home need to be replaced they are very dingy and warn. Again the house is lovely as I told management but these things were very real as you can ask your maintenance person. I thought maybe the house hadn't been rented in awhile as to why there were so many issues or maybe wasnt rented as long as we stayed. I reported these things because I felt from your contract that I must and because we obviously couldn't use our shower or washer until it was fixed. Valerie after my email wrote WOW others really like the property and have come back making me feel that I shouldn't have reported these things. I also would have rented this property again but had a not so great experience with your management as after initial report never responded again to any of my messages.

We loved this home! The reverse floorplan provides for wonderful views from the living room, dining, main bedroom and kitchen! It was so clean, uncluttered and well equipped. Very short drive to the beach, Fiscalini Ranch and downtown Cambria. We enjoyed gorgeous sunsets every night from the front deck and patio, and our dog enjoyed the large enclosed back patio very much. We will definitely be back! Thank you!

The house was very clean and the we loved the overall set up of the house. The only problem was the seating in the living room the small sofa and 2 uncomfortable chairs did not live up to the rest of the house. We did enjoy breakfast outside looking at the ocean and all the deer and wild turkeys. Definitely a wonderful house and Scenic Coast was great to work with!!! Looking forward to next year! (Oh the pillows could be replaced they were very flat)

The house was perfect, location, size and room layout. Also it was a great neighborhood to walk my doggies.

This was our second time at Sounds of the Surf. Location and layout are perfect for us (couple with three kids in late teens/early 20s). Lots to do every day, but always ended with a call cocktail on the porch at sunset. We will be back! As always, Scenic Coast staff was helpful and friendly; our only feedback would be to stock the house with more toilet paper/towels/laundry and dishwasher soap for guests staying more than one week.

This is our 12th year of renting a home and enjoying Cambria. Very dear memories for every year. This was our third year in this beautiful home.
Almost every part of this home is perfect esepecially the fact that it is pet friendly.
My only complaint is the living room seating is not as comfortable as it was before. One small couch and two small uncomfortable chairs. This is where we like to sit and enjoy a movie in the evening. I liked the chairs that use to be there.
Other than that it’s perfect.

Good place to stay overall. Nice view of ocean but not an easy walk to the water. While backyard is enclosed, it is not ideal for an old dog as it has steep steps on sides.

We spent Christmas here with family from 3 states. Clean and comfortable. Kitchen very well-equipped. Lots of room to spread out. Great ocean view. Great yard for the dogs.

This was our 2nd stay at Sounds of the Surf and we loved it! Close to Fiscalini Ranch, the ocean and Main Street. The home is very comfortable and I really like that the fenced backyard is right off the kitchen- great for letting the dog out early morning or after dark. Only negative is that the bath towels need to be replaced.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time. The home was extremely clean, well-appointed, and offered us a chance to enjoy the peace and serenity that only Cambria can offer. We enjoyed cooking and preparing meals in the ample kitchen, taking long walks through the neighborhood and nearby walking trails, and doing some star gazing off of the main deck where one can watch the deer move amongst the moss-covered pine trees at night with the surf crashing softly in the distance. Truly magical! The beds were comfy and the bathrooms spotless. It was like staying in a 5-star hotel, only better. We will definitely be back soon!

We've rented three houses up in Cambria these last three summers, and this house was by far the best. Clean, well-appointed, roomy, and well-situated. The view is wonderful; you can see waves breaking while drinking coffee in bed. The downstairs setup would work well for a separate family or couple; this trip was just four of us and a sleepy old dog, and we loved it. The walk down to the water is a bit steep on the way back up, but the neighborhood was very walkable. If you want to be able to walk into Cambria itself, look elsewhere, but this place was perfect for alternating between Fiscalini, Moonstone, downtown, and points south. We will book again before someone reads this and chooses our week!

A great rental in a beautiful location, our second stay here. May be hesitant to stay at this location again because of an owner which lives on the street behind the house. She clearly has mental problems. On our second day, she entered the backyard and tried to enter the house through the door by the kitchen. She is always yelling at people as they walk by her house. Inside this home, you can also hear her yelling and carrying on from the inside of her house. She walks through the neighborhood and will yell at people she passes. Beautiful home, but be cautious of this neighbor who is a permanent resident of Cambria.

We enjoyed this vacation property very much. It was clean and the beds were very comfortable. There was a partial view of the ocean from the upstairs deck and the master had the same view of the ocean. They do need a new coffee pot. This one takes forever to brew and makes a lot of noise. This should be an easy fix. Otherwise, great rental.

Love, love, loved the property! Would definitely rent again. Good location minutes to town and walking distance to oceanfront. Great views from front deck and master bedroom. Lovely style and comfortably furnished. Overall we loved the place. Street is very narrow though and neighbor parked on street across from driveway making pulling out difficult.

My wife and I spent a very peaceful three night stay together with my son, his wife, and their two young children. This property was very clean with large bedrooms and terrific ocean views.

This home is really lovely and we had a great time there. Easy place to have 3 couples if needed - nice location from which to explore the area.

A lovely stay with views and sounds of the ocean. Easy access from the street at the back of the house. Nice area to do a large 300-500 piece jig-saw.
Very narrow garage and steep drive way for the cautious. Very steep stairway to the main living area for elderly (People and dogs) All that being said we 70 year olds and elder dog family would stay at Sounds of the Surf again. PS the management team was BEYONG gracious and helpful! The coffee grinder was not working and they went out of their way to buy and deliver us another so we could use our whole been coffee. Very special!

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this beautiful home. It had EVERYTHING that we needed and more. Very clean, spacious, and beautiful views of the ocean! WE look forward to returning in the future!

Beautiful home up on the hill looking down on Marine Terrace neighborhood and the ocean around. The bedroom ensuite downstairs with foldout sofa was great for our 3 teen/preteen kids to have their own space and the two upstairs bedrooms were perfect for the two adult couples. I'm still daydreaming about the quiet mornings I spent in bed sipping on coffee watching the ocean below. The only downside was that the driveway and location is a bit steep if you desire morning walks down to the shoreline on flat streets (walking back up was a bit strenuous). But it's very close (2-4 mins) to drive down to Lampton County Park or Fiscilini Ranch to park and walk. The kitchen/pantry closet had lots of pots and pans. Wasn't a ton of cabinet space for storing our own cooking/food items but we used the counter island, which was sufficient. Overall a wonderful stay. Hope to come back soon!

Really loved our pet friendly home away from home. The views were wonderful. We walked daily to the Bluff trail with our pups. We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen, and everything worked as it should. We also liked the completely enclosed back patio. The beds were very comfy with nice linens. The collection of board games was a nice plus. We would definitely return!!

This wonderful house was very spacious both inside & out & very private. It has a beautiful view of the ocean from the living room & master bedroom. The neighbourhood was quiet & safe. Would definitely rent again.

Layout of home was very nice. Home was well stocked and in good care. My only frustration was with the TV's and the Living room furniture. The Living room TV is very small by today's standards (and not Smart). The Downstairs TV is barely acceptable in terms of size (it IS Smart though). We had 4 adults in the home. At night we wanted to watch TV but the seating was not comfortable. Couch seated 2 fine but the arm-less chairs left something to be desired. I would suggest swapping the chairs in the Master bedroom with the arm-less chairs.

Also home is Pet Friendly. If you have allergy's to cats be cautious. The couch is cloth and clearly there has been a cat present in the past as sitting on the couch did cause my allergies to flare up.

My son and I visit Cambria once a year and love to stay in the Fiscalini Ranch neighborhood. This home was higher up in the hills than others we stayed in, but once we got our bearings, it was no trouble to drive to the walking entrances and into town. We had a lovely view of the ocean from the front balcony. The home is spacious with enough room for 6. Biggest plus for us was an enclosed backyard . . just wish there was some grass! We visited Harmony, all of our favorites in Cambria, and drove to Pebble Beach to have lunch near the 18th hole. Love working with Scenic Coast Rental . . we needed a couple of supplies and they were quick to respond. Already looking forward to next year.

A very confortable, clean house with a lovely view to the ocean. Well provisioned with cooking and serving materials. Clear instructions for use and departure. Would gladly stay here again.

I loved my stay in Cambria. I had never stayed in this area but I loved it. The neighborhood is so quiet and peaceful. The views were incredible!

We had an amazing time at ‘sounds of the surf.’ We found that the house had everything we needed. The beds are comfortable. We loved the small apartment it was perfect for guests.

This home was clean & comfortable. It had a nice ocean view and beautiful decks. We loved that it had cable TV so we could watch the Dodgers! Had it been a little closer/walking distance to Fiscalini Ranch it would have been perfect. The walk back up to the house was a little challenging for some of our family. Overall we would definitely stay there again.

Had a great time at Sounds of the Surf to celebrate our son's graduation form Cal Poly and have a mini family reunion. The place was clean, well stocked, and we enjoyed cooking many dinners in the great kitchen and eating on the patios and deck.

My family and I loved this home. It has beautiful views of the ocean. You can hear the ocean at night. We found ourselves not wanting to leave the home. We hung out on the balcony with a glass of wine and a book. I definitely can’t wait to come back next year! This home did not disappoint.

This is a terrific house with an excellent location on the hill overlooking the ocean with the "sounds of the surf" in the distance. We found it to be very clean and well maintained with all of the amenities listed in its description. The nice folks at the property management company were very professional and easy to work with. I would highly recommend this lovely home if you are looking for a comfortable Cambria getaway with your family.

We have stayed in the home many times in the past 8 years. Other than the worn-out mattress in the master bedroom this is a nice place located in a beautiful spot with stunning views. The owners have made some really nice improvements in the past couple of years but we will hesitate to return until for just one reason: the mattress.
