A Step Away

We loved staying here. The property had great access to Moonstone Beach and the Fiscalini Ranch trails which yielded sightings of several dolphin pods and numerous sea otters. As a bonus, we were able to watch sunsets and sea action from the great room windows.

Home was very clean, well appointed, comfortable, and just had a good vibe! The listing pictures do not do the view of the ocean justice, very nice watching the breakers with my morning coffee! Will definitely stay agian.

The house was beautiful and very clean, we enjoyed our stay in Cambria! Deer and wild turkeys were in the lot behind the house in the morning and the walk to the park and beach was close, the hill was a little steep for my mom but we would drive to the park which was close and she enjoyed going to the beach from there.

We had a great time during our visit to Cambria. The house was perfect and the neighbors were very friendly. Everything was clean and tidy in the house and the view was spectacular. Definitely rent again.

The location was excellent. Close to Shamel Park, beach, trails. The house itself is very nice. Clean, well equipped, very comfortable. And lots of seating in the living room. We were very happy with our time there.

This was a great house for our family's first visit to Cambria. It was very clean, had comfortable beds and seating areas and a lovely view of the ocean.
Our only request would have been for some beach towels and for a few more glasses and hot drink mugs so we didn't have to wash them after each use.

This property is everything it is advertised as on the listing. We had 4 adults and 2 children. Large 2 car garage. Within walking distance of the beach at 2 blocks, but downtown would be a commitment and you have to cross Hwy 1. The gardens are beautiful and tranquil. The home was spotless and we are pretty picky. The view of the ocean from the living room and deck were so very special as well as being able to hear the ocean when the windows were open. Be sure to do a breakfast at Linn's but skip Sea Chest as it is a hassle, expensive, too much food and rather bland. Pizza at Gianni's - yum.

This is the perfect home. New laminate flooring and paint. Extremely clean. Everything I hoped for. I would definitely rent this home again.

We have rented this house two years in a row and will be coming back again next year. The location is a short walk to the beach and hiking trails at Fiscalini ranch. Really enjoy the enclosed yard for our dogs.

A Step Away was just that, a step away from the beach and park. The house is tucked in an adorable neighborhood and when we arrived, was clean and organized, with anything you might need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend this place!

The location and view were AMAZING!!! We LOVED the backyard, comfortable beds, bedding, new pots, fluffy towels, and dinnerware. The decor was excellent and inviting. I didn't care for the torn linoleum or stained carpet. We ran out of toilet paper. We'll pick a different house next time.

The only drawback to the location is that the walk back home from the park/ocean is a bit hilly for those that are not in good shape. It’s wasn’t bad for me (63) but my father who does enjoy a nice walk (over 80) on a more level ground was not able to do. Overall we would rent this home again for sure.

Let’s start at the beginning. We got into town around 6:00 pm. We drove into town and went to the rental office. So organized. Directions were amazing. Got into the drop box and retrieved the paperwork signed and left back in the box. Great directions to the house. Upon arriving,we entered through the garage,and into the house. The pics online did not do the house justice. So warm and cozy. Extremely clean. Great location. .03 miles to town. Great neighborhood. Well stocked. Highly recommend!

The property is very close to the water and has a great backyard for your dog, it is completely fenced. The house was just as described large comfortable living room with a ocean view. It was a nice surprise to receive a bottle of wine, it was a very nice gesture. The house was very clean and had plenty of room for six or more even though it was just the two of us. It was really nice to just walk a short distance to be at the beach or at one of the restaurants. I would highly recommend this home to anyone.

Such a lovely stay in Cambria. Looking out at the ocean each day and feeling it’s cool breeze was magical. The house was one of the cleanest properties I’ve rented. Just the right amount of everything without too much clutter. A suggestion would be to replace the worn carpet with a hard surface like what is in the upstairs masters/bath. Other than that we LOVED the home.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Park Hill area of Cambria. Walks into town, hikes in Fiscalini and day trip to Ragged Point. Mostly just loved relaxing and staring at the ocean from the LR couch. One caution, if you have a dog that eats indiscriminate garden items, there are a few toxic flowers and bushes within reach in the garden.

My stay at this home was very enjoyable. Plenty of room, great location, well stocked and enjoyed the complimentary wine provided. It was quiet and we felt safe. Dogs did well in the fenced yard. View of ocean was a plus. Felt very comfortable and cozy but also special.

There is no place like home, but this house comes really close. We enjoy our get aways at the Step Away home. It's close to the walking trails, downtown and always makes us feel right at home. If you have a pet, guess what, they are welcome too.
We will definitely be continuing our Cambria getaways at a Step Away.

This is probably one of the nicest vacation rentals we've stayed in in Cambria (and we've stayed in a lot!). The house was immaculately clean - the linens, carpets, furniture and surfaces were all clean and looked relatively new. The rooms are spacious, and the living room in particular had lots of different seating - some good for reading, some good for enjoying the view, some good for lounging and watching tv (which, by the way, was lovely and large!). The kitchen is very well equipped with utensils, cookware, and plates and glasses. With the covid situation, we cooked at home every night, and everything we needed was there. When the weather was nice we ate lunch outside on the lovely patio. The backyard is beautifully landscaped, with enough open space for our little dog to relieve herself without having to leash up and go for a walk (very much appreciated for those late night potty visits!).

We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful accommodations and a wonderful way to spend time with your family on the coast. The local Clydesdale ranch was very fun.

House was extremely clean with plenty of space for our party of 6. Awesome living spaces for sharing a meal and watching the big game. Easy bike ride/stroll down to Moonstone. Bathrooms are a bit dated, but clean and functional. Appreciated the Weber charcoal grill, bottle of wine, and gas fireplace!

The view is better than the photos. The living room and master bedroom are especially spacious and comfortable. One of the downstairs bedrooms has a king bed and French door to the back yard - very nice. Convenient to town and beaches. Tile a little dated, but everything very clean and in working order.

We had a wonderful time at “A Step Away” on Park Hill. The house was lovely, very well furnished, great cookware provided, lots of plates, glasses, BBQ utensils, etc.The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were a great size. Even though we weren’t exactly across the street from the ocean, we had a nice view from the large windows in the living room. We had our 2 dogs with us and they got lots of walks to the beach and around the neighborhood. This property is located very close to Moonstone Beach, Main Street in Cambria, as well as the gorgeous Reserve. Lots of places to walk, enjoy nature and relax. Lots more I could say but we will definitely be back for another lovely stay in Cambria at this property.

This home is the perfect place to relax and spend time with family. With cool ocean breezes flowing through the living rooms windows, you forget all about the blazing valley heat we retreated from. While there are so many great places to eat in Cambria, we enjoyed the new stove and dishwasher. A big comfy couch, fuzzy blankets, daily walks on Fiscalini Trail ( where we spotted seals) the Farmers market on Friday made this another great stay at our favorite Cambria home. Thank you for having a great house to share with guests.

We’ve stayed here many times. Each time is a treat! My one complaint this time was that the downstairs shower drain was backed up. That should have been taken care of before we arrived.

We have stayed here several times and will do so again in the future. One of the best houses we have rented as far as location and set up go. Everything in the house is clean and orderly and the kitchen is very well stocked. Recommend it highly!

I LOVE THIS PROPERTY!!! I can say nothing but good things about Scenic Coast Rentals as well. Friends and I rented this house to celebrate my birthday. The day we arrived we found the house immaculate. There was even a welcome bottle of wine for us. This is my second time staying at the property and will no doubt be back. We discovered an issue with the oven the first night. We called Scenic the next morning and reported the issue. They sent out a repair person who discovered it needed a part that he had get. It was my birthday and my whole meal centered on using the oven. Scenic was even so kind as to bring us another property key that we could use the oven in. The next day the repairman came with the necessary part and the oven was fixed. Gold stars to all involved. They even have quality pots and pans as well as knives who finds that in a rental?? Til next time....

Things we LOVED: AWESOME LOCATION!!!! The house was very clean with views of the ocean from the living room and back deck. Even though it is at least 12 houses up from the ocean, you can easily hear the waves from the deck or through open windows and the neighborhood is quiet. There are great places to walk from the house too! The living room had very comfortable furniture and the gas fireplace was awesome on the cold mornings! The smart-TV was nice (no cable) and we were glad we brough an HDMI cable so we could stream from our computers. Bedrooms and bathrooms were nice! The house also worked well for our small dog. The yard is tiny, but lovely! The kitchen was well appointed, with plenty of dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, knives and more. There is a toaster, a Keurig and a 12-cup Cuisinart coffee maker (but no filters...it uses cone filters). There were some Keurig pods, tea, and spices which was so nice, but no sugar or sweetener. We had not expected to wash laundry, but when we did need it, it was great there was detergent! We also truly enjoyed and appreciated the complimentary bottle of wine!

Challenges: The dishwasher top rack feels like it might fall off, which makes you nervous you will break glasses. It actually was well-attached, but tipped forward a lot. The dishwasher also leaked because the gasket is a little bit wonky. The other challenge we encountered occurred because, for some unknown reason, there is a keyed handle on the pantry door and, one knows, it got locked on our last night. There was no key to be found. It was an exterior-type lock, so we had no success in trying to pick it. A call to the emergency number brought a prompt response from the emergency maintenance man and he investigated only to learn there is no key. He came over the next morning and drilled out the lock so we could get all our stuff out. Hopefully, they will permanently disable that lock.

We enjoyed our stay at A Step Away. The home is spacious and clean. The views of the ocean at sunset were incredible and the deck was a great place to sip coffee. The home is walking distance to the beach and Main St. The stove needs to be updated, it heat up properly, but that wouldn’t keep us from coming back. We hope to make this an annual trip!

The property was very well maintained and very clean. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the amenities. We loved the mornings on the deck and the evenings watching the sunset. Great location.

We're four women who rent a house every year in Cambria...and this one was the best yet! The layout is perfect including the wonderful view of the ocean. We were able to take a good walk along the cliffs just by stepping out the door and walking down hill for a few blocks, and we all loved the fact that the kitchen was so well stocked with everything that we needed. We've already made our next reservation.

My family has been staying in this home yearly for the past 6 years. Each year we visit, we find the home clean and well maintained as well as additional upgrades to the decor. The homes location and it’s large, comfortable interior and exterior space, make it the perfect vacation home for our family!

We all had a wonderful time at this house. It is very close to town, two beaches, and restaurants. It is well equipped with everything you might need, including a washer and dryer. The smart tv works great too. We got extra workouts with the stairs, and enjoyed family time on the deck/patio. The rental company was easy to work with. We will be coming back soon.

What an absolutely awesome experience in Cambria again! Great weather, AWESOME HOUSE, the grandkids, just couldn’t have been better ( well no Covid 19!) would have been better! Our family loves this home, looking forward to next year!

Our stay at a Step Away was restful and relaxing as usual. We’ve always loved the location as it is just a short walk to the ocean. The property was clean and generally well maintained. However, the rubber protectant placed on the garage stairwell needEd to be repaired as it had come loose making walking up and down those stairs hazardous.

Scenic Coast staff personnel are great to work with. We have used this service for over 10 years. This was the first stay at this location. Great location, beautifully and artfully decorated. It is an extremely comfortable home. The kitchen is great to work in . The back patio does not have a great view, however the front room view is incredible.

We have always stayed on the Marine Terrace side so this was our first stay on the other side. We were not disappointed ! Great home and pretty much everything we needed. Our dog loved playing frisbee at Shamel Park just down the road. Also a great bottle of wine was on the table when we arrived . We most definitely will return and always sad to leave Cambria.

The house was located in a beautiful neighborhood and it was spotless. We could see the ocean and mountain views. The house was surrounded by beautiful flowers. One evening we stayed in and lit the fireplace and had a pasta dinner. The realty company was helpful with little issues. The only issue was we were told to take the garbage out. There were no garbage cans to be found!

We had ANOTHER incredible weekend at A Step Away. This home is our home away from home. We were able to enjoy the Cambria Christmas Market for a few nights, BBQ burgers for the family and enjoy some Hot Chocolate when the weather got chilly. We love this home !

This was my first time staying in Cambria and this home. We usually go to Morro Bay. I am so glad I did. This was a wonderful home with great ocean views and close enough to walk to ocean, sit on a bench and enjoy the waves. The home was absolutely spotless. We had a early Thanksgiving dinner and the kitchen is well supplied. We did have to purchase a roasting pan. Best place I have ever stayed. I didn't want to leave.

This was my first time renting a home and it ended up being a very pleasant experience. The home was in a perfect location for our needs and Cambria is a fun place to visit. It was within walking distance of a beach where our dogs could go and the neighborhood was quiet and safe. There were also hiking trails nearby. The house was very clean. My family enjoyed our weekend!

This home never disappoints. It's the best vacation home experience you can have short of having your own property in Cambria. We visit frequently and LOVE our stays and the views from the large living room windows. Sitting on the comfy couch and letting the ocean air flow thru is heaven.

The rental was very nice. Very pretty view of the ocean from the living room. Spacious upstairs area. Having access to the garage with a garage remote made it much easier to bring things into the rental from our vehicles. Also, since parking on the street is not allowed, having the garage to be able to park one vehicle was perfect. This allowed our other guests to park in the driveway. One issue at this property was the toilets did not flush properly-it took us an entire day to figure out we needed to hold the handle down all the way and keep it down for the toilets to flush completely. A suggestion I have is that housekeeping supply new sealed sponges each time the place is rented. I brought my own. The used sponge supplied under the sink cabinet is less than sanitary. I would suggest new blinds as they stick when you try to raise and lower them. Top down / bottom up would be great so the nearby neighbors can't see into your place when you'd still like to enjoy the view. Overall we really liked the place and the fact they allowed our two dogs. Having an enclosed backyard for them was perfect!

We had a perfect time! Loved the house!! The views are the best! Fully equipped kitchen was all we needed to enjoy BBQ with family. Our daughter stayed a block away and we all had the best time!! We will be back!! My husband loves being retired and is now on vacation everyday!! Thanks for sharing your home!

Great house, good quiet neighborhood, lovely views

The house is a convenient and easy walk to the beach and to the Moonstone board walk. It is also walkable to the city if you don’t mind crossing the highway. There is a stop light there. Has nice views of the ocean from the living room window. There is a small lovely garden downstairs in the back. The kitchen is stocked with basic cooking items. And the whole house was very clean.

We had three lovely days and evenings in beautiful Cambria. This house was the perfect choice, close 2 the beach for walks, close to the reserve for walking and hiking, and very very well-appointed. All the amenities were present that one would need to enjoy hi there a short weekend or an extended stay. Would definitely return!

Our 2nd time at this property in 2 months. Very centrally located with all of the comforts of home.

This home was one of the most beautiful and accommodating homes I’ve been in. Everything is so clean and organized, it makes the place that much better. As we arrived inside the home, we noticed a complimentary wine bottle the home owners left for us which was a very sweet and nice touch. The space is enormous for the whole family to enjoy and it’s complete with every kitchen utensil, along with bathroom, bedroom, and laundry room amenities you could think of or might need. I will definitely be coming back to enjoy the home a lot more.

Very nice home with a lovely view of the ocean. We could also hear the waves on occasion thru the open window. House was well appointed especially the kitchen. The things we would like to see fixed are: a shade on the slider in the dining area, a mirror in the king downstairs bedroom and a toilet in the master bathroom that does not have a finicky flush. Other than that, I would highly recommend this property. We would rent it again.

We've stayed in this home for our yearly Cambria vacation several times. It has always been very clean and well maintained. We like to cook when we are there and this home provides all the kitchenware and appliances we need. This year we found new living room furniture. We loved the new layout and extra comfortable seating. We love our time here and can't wait for next year!
