Best part of this property was the gas fired fireplace. Very cozy. Kitchen had most everything. Needs much better exterior setup for pets. No access to fenced area from interior. Rear area needs fencing.

Nice and Cozy but...
David S., Altadena, CA United States
A very nice home in a great location...can hear waves crashing at night! If you are bringing a pet, just be aware there is no direct access to the very small fenced front yard. We happened to be there on the 3 hottest days of the year and with no A/C it was to say the least "toasty". FYI, we bought a fan which hopefully is still there. The Wi-Fi never worked but that may have been a system wide problem...maybe. The living room couch and chair are at best uncomfortable. The home is well stocked, the management company is very responsive, and the house is very cozy. It does not have a "Welcome Book" so you will have to figure out restaurants, local sites, how to work the TV, the fireplace, etc. all on your own. When you arrive, you will see a garage and second floor unit at the end of the driveway. Unless told otherwise, which we weren't, the driveway is all yours and you will have keys to get into the garage where the washer/dryer and BBQ grill are located. We are telling you all of this not to complain, but to make sure you are aware what to expect.

The location is great as you can walk down the street and enjoy the beach.
It is an older house, but pleasantly decorated. It had what we needed except for a few things.
The patio has a table with benches but not useable as no outdoor umbrella was provided, but the umbrella stand was there. The sunroom is great for cool days but too hot if the sun shines, so the umbrella would be an affordable addition to improve customer experience.
The owner accepts dogs. A dog bed would have been great.
There are no washer/dryer in the house for longer stays.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The house I had a lot of charm. Walking distance to a lovely park and the beach. Great walks along the water. Weād definitely stay here again.

Fun in Cambria
Catherine L., Seattle, WA US
We loved our cottage in Cambria. We cooked our meals so we did not try any of the restaurants. The boardwalk was great. Big surf, beautiful views from a bluff walk. I will return.
Mid week getaway.

A perfect setting for a relaxing getaway. Our dogs first beach experience was made easier with the hose on the side of the house. We spent most of our time in the Sun room off the kitchen.
Quaint place, interesting neighbors
Recent Guest, Tehachapi, CA US
Overall the place was great. Furniture and decor were unique though a bit dated. The beds were surprisingly comfy. The floors creaked a bit but the place had a lot of charm. My only real complaint would be the drunken people yelling in the late night/early morning hours. But the location was great and convenient.
Not happy with this company!
Christopher C., Sugarloaf, CA US
From straight out of the start I should of known better with this company. You got my money ismmwhat counts with you guys is the impression I have. Gem on the beach is the name witch is misleading to start. Also description says easy walk to the shopping area. If you count 3 forth of a mile on busy roads with no sidewalks. The house was not up to standards on cleaning. Mold in bathroom, no sink stopper peeling interior paint, smashed bugs on ceiling. Also no air conditioner, walkways were uneven with loose rubble present.Sunroom door had broken dead bolt and door did not properly close for security purposes. Yard had dead plants and piles of dirt visible. Also was unhappy to have to pick up and drop off keys. When I explained all these problems the rental company expressed no compassion what so ever. Again as long as my money was payed is what matters. I've filed a complaint to the chamber of Commerce 8n this town.Ive complained to Sienic coast management. I've made a complaint to Verbo with negative remarks on there page. Now I've complained to whoever you guys are. I want 50% of my money paid out refunded. I will never rent from verbo again and most likely never a air band again. I feel I have been burned, and I am trying to enjoy timeoff and not deal with more drama on my vacation. This was my first time dealing with verbo, and the last.

Disappointing
Lovely little house
Russell M., Playa Del Rey, CA United States
House feels bigger than it looks in the photos. Kitchen was well-equipped, with good pans and knives (even an oyster knife). The driveway is real steep and the floors are not level, so take into consideration if you have mobility issues. The dining/sun room is awesome and the garden outside draws lots of birds.

Park Hill

We enjoyed our time staying in Park Hill. The location of the home is perfect. We walked to Fiscalini Ranch, Shamel Park, Moonstone Beach and the trails. The kitchen was equipped with the essentials. The downside of the home is that the beds were not very comfortable. The furniture in the living room is arranged awkwardly and they ask that you don't rearrange it. The neighborhood was so quiet that all we heard at night were the waves UNTIL the neighbors next door showed up. They were so loud even after midnight. I read another review from a guest stating the same.

Very clean quiet home. The only thing is there needs to be a TV in the bedroom.
disappointing stay
Wayne W., Lake Havasu City, AZ US
We rented this property for an R&R vacation. We had next door renting party people till late in evenings, multiple days and exterior paint construction on house in back of this peoperty. The furnishings and beds were terrible, loved the location would not recommend this property. Owner needs some help with furnishing to be more functional.
Not a delightful gem

We left after about 30 minutes and checked in to a hotel. Musty and stuffy upon entry. Bedrooms were cramped and uninviting. The fridge and freezer reeked of fish. Overall the space was claustrophobic and depressing.

This is a great little property in Cambria. You are within walking distance to beaches, trails, and downtown. It was clean upon arrival and very comfortable for me, my wife, and my pet.
Beautiful Home, Excellent Location and Price
Maggie M., Los Angeles, CA US
This small home was perfect for my couples getaway. The property management company was nothing but professional, sending us emails with all the information we needed. They offered no contact key pick up which made us feel safe about our visit. The home was spotless, extremely clean and organized. We were so happy with our stay. We were also grateful that it was pet safe for our small pup.
The home is within 2 blocks from the ocean front, making it ideal for morning or evening walks.
Great little home close to the beach- but bring your own pan!
Recent Guest, Healdsburg, CA Unknown
Cute little house with lots of potential a very short walk to moonstone beach. We had a great stay, but wish that the house had been a little better stocked. We mostly cooked at the house, but the cookware definitely felt like a hodgepodge of castaways. Same with the furniture, and no games, puzzles, etc. If we had known that ahead of time it would have been helpful. Otherwise, canāt beat the location and cozy nature of the house.

Close to everything
Stuart W., Hood River, OR US
Nice little place, two blocks from park and beach, a short drive to downtown. We like to cook (and need to, in covid times), and this was one of the best equipped kitchens we have experienced -- great selection of tools (knives so-so on sharpness). Sunroom floor was gritty, needed a quick sweep. One fry pan still greasy. Staff responded promptly when informed of only one wine glass when we arrived. Comfy bed and quiet with surf sounds at back of house. For readers, stocked with interesting mix of books and mags (Sun, New Yorker) if you didn't bring your own. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Perfect location for a get away
Edwin M., N/A, CO United States
Looking for a rental is not an easy thing to do. Booking a place that meets everyoneās needs is hard to do. We found this location as a spot close to activities; wineries, nature, & close to the ocean. It was a great find the first night sleeping with the sound of waves crashing brought a lovely relaxation quality to the trip that we hoped for but was surprised to find.
Central Coast weekend
Robert A., N/A, CO United States
We had a wonderful weekend, and this property was ideal for my wife and I. The location was close to everything we wanted to experience while in Cambria.
Great Location
Jean D., San Diego, CA United States
This is a cozy cottage on a quiet street and close to everything Cambria has to offer. It was clean and comfortable, had great water pressure, and a fully stocked kitchen. There is a nice little park down the street (for our dog) with access to Moonstone Beach.
One issue was that there were no window coverings on the front door or sun room so we felt like we were in a fishbowl, which was a little uncomfortable for us. The yards (both front and back) and fencing could use some fixing up too.
Needless to say, we would still recommend this little cottage.
Great location / spotlessly clean
David P., Pasadena, CA United States
This was a wonderful spot for our 3 nights in Cambria. Quiet location just a short walk to the shore, Shamel Park and Fiscalini Ranch. The house is roomy and comfortable, and very clean. Dog friendly. The kitchen is well equipped, and there's a pleasant sun room for meals.
Two small details that could be improved:
1.) Though we had a strong WiFi connection, we got a "no internet connection" message most of the time. Seems to be a problem with their service provider (not with the WiFi itself). We worked around that by using our phones as WiFi hotspots (pretty good Verizon cel signal).
2.) Turning on the fireplace was a bit of a puzzle. The instructions are printed on a dark (hard to read) metal plate attached to the grill below the fireplace. After following all the steps we were only able to ignite the pilot light. It was only after noticing a separate wall switch over near the tv remotes that we were able to turn on the fire itself. Then it worked fine. Management might consider printing out the instructions on a sheet of paper so they're easier to read, and mentioning the wall switch.
Otherwise, no complaints. We'd definitely stay there again! We were there during the pandemic, so we brought our own food and did takeout. But there are plenty of great restaurants in Cambria (especially the Sea Chest), so we hope to be back at them for our next visit.

Great location but lacking a few things
Mitch C., Chico, CA US
My wife and I went to visit my brother in Cambria and we were able to stay at the Gem on Park Hill. This is an old style beach bungalow. The location is great, but inside, there are some things that need updating. Everything was sanitized, and maybe that's what led to all the cabinets in the kitchen being sticky - at least I hope that was the reason. The TV that's there is almost not even worth having since it's so small. The beds were comfortable, although the one was quite squeaky. The bathroom was adequate and the water pressure was good, which is something that can't always be said in Cambria. The outdoor patio area is rough - definitely needs to be redone as it could be a major tripping hazard for some folks.
What was really missing it seemed, and is always part of every other place we've stayed at via VRBO is a book with instructions, menus, brochures, etc. I actually had to call the office to get instructions on how to make the TV work since there were three remotes and no other information.
All in all, a nice place. You just need to be aware of its limitations.
Peaceful Beach House ~Clarify Beds
Darlene G., Phoenix, AZ Unknown
Friendly, easy, helpful property management staff. Adorable town, flowers everywhere, good restaurants. Perfect to walk to hiking trails and beach. Lots of options to park along PCH and enjoy secluded beaches and hikes (watch out for ticks/ poison oak/ivy if you have dogs!) Our favorite was the elephant seals and redwoods up north. We should have clarified the beds ahead of time. The main house had two bedrooms and two beds only. The other bed (pull out couch) was upstairs in an unattached loft/apartment above the garage. The pull out couch was very comfortable for a pull out and the loft was beautiful with a large deck and lots of big windows. You can hear and see the sun set over the ocean from the loft. We had plenty of room with the two spaces, however, our children are teens and we had our dogs with us. So, we were comfortable leaving our teens the two beds in the main house with the dogs, but I don't think we would have been comfortable if we didn't have our dogs or if they were a bit younger. We couldn't get the cable or local channels to work on the TV, but found a roku in a drawer and set that up while we were there. I'm sure if we asked, the management company would have helped, they were very responsive. The garage had a washer and dryer and our stay had everything we needed. We brought an inflatable camp couch after reading other reviews that mentioned the lack of seating in the main house's living room. That helped make it a bit more comfortable. We had a great stay overall.
Great Stay

This house was perfect for our stay. A short walk to the park/beach and less than a 5 min drive to downtown Cambria. The house was clean and all appliances worked. It had enough space for me and 2 kids and dog friendly was a big plus! The enclosed sun room was a great soot to eat meals and to watch the rain coming down. If youād like a smaller place that is close to beach, downtown and Highway 1, this place is ideal.

We enjoyed our stay in the Gem on Park Hill. It is a cute little place. Check in and out was easy. We paid to use the room over the garage for my son and his significant other. It worked out well, even though my son reported the hide-a-bed in the unit upstairs was not very comfortable.

The place was lovely and clean and the stay here was wonderful. A short walk to the beach was nice, and we visited during the harvest festival which was very fun to see all the scarecrows in town. The town is so close and cute, it made it a very fun stay.
Rental Review
Rodolfo R., Long Beach, CA United States
Overall it was ok. Lights in the the bedroom didnāt work, the refrigerator leaked water, the floors were dirty, a bunch of cobwebs in the entryway of the front door (outside of the door) the landscape was very dry, we saw pieces of trash in the yard and flower bed area, may be due to raccoons at night. The home was located in nice neighborhood, there was great a great cross breeze when all the windows were opened, everything else was satisfactory. But for the price I was expecting expecting a bit better, I guess your paying for the location.

Beds were reasonably comfortable except one had a wooden frame that you had to climb over to get in or out of the bed. We enjoyed opening up the windows at night to get fresh ocean air. We could hear the waves lulling you to sleep.
We had rented another VBRO and found out the day before the owner had discontinued it. VBRO was not very helpful but we called Kimberly at Scenic Coast Property Mgmt and she pulled out a miracle. She even had the house ready a day early. LOVED the house, super cute and a short walk to the beach. We stayed with our dog and it was just perfect. Appreciated the spices in the cupboard and the variety of kitchen tools as we cooked a number of meals. Bed was super comfortable. Washer and Dryer worked great. Overall a wonderful six days in a beautiful part of the world.
