A Victorian Lightkeepers House by the Sea

The house was just perfect! Very charming and cozy, with lovely antiques to really make you feel part of a time long gone.

We invited a few friends to join us at the cottage and they loved it just as much as we always have. We enjoyed eating in the kitchen around the large wooden island, in the dinning room at the beautiful table and on the patio enjoying the lovely garden backyard and cool breezes. It is lovely to just walk 1 block and be able to stroll along the coast boardwalk, looking out at the beautiful ocean and rock formations. So close to up town where we explored some fun shops and wonderful restaurants. We took a short hike on the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve and had fun showing our friends the quaint town of Harmony. We always enjoy the sunsets and even experienced a Full Super Blue Moon from the upper balcony.

This former Lighthouse Keeper’s cozy home-away-from-home has been the perfect getaway for our family for several years. It’s close to Moonstone Beach for many lovely times for us.

Beautiful, comfortable house in a great location! Beautiful views accompanied by sounds of the waves. Plenty of room inside and out for each guest to enjoy quiet time or togetherness. Kitchen was well equipped and perfect for preparing several meals. Great location, quiet street within walking distance to boardwalk, beach, and a few restaurants. A perfect getaway !

This was our 6th time at the cottage. We love the location with its easy walk to the beach, the deck, kitchen and living room, we spent hours sitting in the kitchen talking. The garden was lovely as well!
The downstairs bath tub/shower wais tough for the seniors in our group and the stairs were steep for my 91 year old mother but overall, we love it.

Great location, quiet, comfortable beds, plenty of storage, nice deck, big kitchen, close to town, BUT...there are improvements needed....downstairs bathroom sink does not have hot water, upstairs showered should be replaced instead of needing to operate it by reading a 3 step instruction list, TV operating instructions are incorrect and not clear, furniture in dining room is bulky and makes it hard for people to get around for access.
I have been visiting this property for almost ten years and have noticed a significant decline in overall condition as if someone forgot to take care of such a special unique home. Needs some TLC for sure, maybe start by painting the exterior.
Lastly, the customer service from rental agency is unfriendly and unavailable. Doesn't really match the friendly vibe from the town and merchants who welcome visitors. Hope my review helps!

Wonderful. Love the history of this house. Especially love the kitchen.

This was our second stay at this unique Victorian home.
It is a cozy and well-located home with lovely landscaping and an old world charm. The kitchen is well stocked for meal prep and is a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the ocean view.
As has been mentioned by a couple of other reviewers, the stairs to the upstairs bedroom may not be appropriate for someone with balance/mobility issues...as they seem to be original to the home and are not easy to navigate.
We have had an issue with ants in the kitchen/dining room (and upstairs bathroom) during both our visits...even though our food items were securely contained.
Also, be aware it will take several hours for the home to warm up after the heat is initially turned on...after which time, the home will remain comfortable as long as the heat is not turned off again for any length of time.
Upon checkout, we passed along these issues to Property Management.

We enjoyed our walks along the beach, the many trails we discovered along PCH, the charming town of Cambria, the yummy food, and the friendly people we met through the week. This house takes you back in time. Even though the owners have decorated the house with antiques, the beds are modern and comfortable. The top level has windows to open so you can enjoy the sight and sounds of the beach. Close to town and a block from the beach, this is the perfect location for a home away from home.

A sweet beautiful home welcomed us for a perfect 3 night getaway. You will feel like you are stepping back jnto your grandmas’ home. Warmly decorated with plenty of amenities for a most comfortable stay.
Excellently maintained outdoor grounds as well. The only problem we had was instructions to turn on the TV. Haha!! Multiple remotes can be a challenge. We managed though. First level claw foot tub definitely fits with the era of Victorian architecture but may not be best for some seniors. The upstairs shower and bath accommodates all!!!

Our yearly Cambria retreat was perfect in this wonderful home. No complaints at all about the property, the process or our time in Cambria. Will keep this one on the top of our list for next years retreat!

What a great location! We love this home so much that this was our second visit. It is within a block of Moonstone beach and the ocean can be seen from the decks. The house is clean, with all the amenities. It has a fenced in backyard. The check-in and check-out instructions were very clear and the Scenic Coast people extremely helpful. A great vacation retreat!

We arrived at night so we couldn’t see the house very well but boy what a surprise that next morning! House was decorated in a lovely very homey way. Lots of pictures and personal touches that made me feel like I was in my own home. Very cozy and warm. The garden was gauge plus and considering you are walking distance to the beach made all the difference in the world. Very clean and happy feeling house.

This was my 2nd time in the Victorian Lightkeepers House by the Sea. Great home to bring family and friends to Celebrate a special event. A Quite and Tranquil home, with all the special touches. Enjoy the Views from the Upstair Balcony and playing cards on the Downstairs patio...Walk to town for Breakfast, Wine Tasting, shopping was a great day for us. So much to say, but it is a place to make your own memories one never to forget. Thank you so much...worth the Drive.

It’s the perfect gathering place for our cousins/aunt getaway. Such a great location being close to the boardwalk and town. Because the downstairs bathroom has a claw foot tub and shower, this may not be ideal for someone who can’t climb in or out or climb stairs.

We loved staying in this house so much. The property management company was very upfront about explaining their Covid-19 procedures, and the house was clean and beautiful. I especially appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, and we also loved the beautiful garden and historic nature of the house.

we have been renting this home for years. We love the location, the home itself, and Cambria in general. The home has a great eat-in kitchen, three nice large bedrooms and just a great overall homey feeling. It also has a very nice fenced yard and a large deck to enjoy the outdoors as well as the indoors. It is just a short walk down the street to Moonstone Beach. We have always had a very positive experience and will continue to make this our home away from home when we visit the Central Coast.

We really enjoyed staying in the Light Keeper’s House. The location was perfect for exploring Cambria, Moonstone Beach & Hearst Castles. The property was well equipped with everything we needed for a lovely break. Warmly recommended!

Returned to the house on Chatham after over 25-year absence. The house is beautiful but it is showing its age. My wife killed 7 spiders in the kitchen/dining room areas. The upstairs bathroom had a light out over the shower, the toilet seat was loose and the shower had small amounts of black mold growing in the pan and surround frame. The weather was not all that good with fog everyday, but overall it was a peaceful vacation.

Absolutely Perfect! Home was exactly as described. We enjoyed morning beach walks, relaxing on the porch overlooking the garden, the sound of the waves at night. Hearst Castle was an all afternoon event. Excellent gourmet meal at Robins in town. Must see the little town of Harmony, glass blowing and gift shop. Then head to Cayucus for the best ever Manhattan Clam Chowder at the little cafe near the beach restroom. The home was stocked with anything you might need.

This was a great weekend. The house was wonderful. A short walk from the scenic ocean view and close to some great restaurants. It was a totally enjoyable weekend.

We stayed here 5 weeks in Feb and March 2019. This lovely old house is a wonderful touch of quaint and functional. It is NOT for everyone, however. As with any older home, it is drafty (we had exceptional cold weather), the master BR is up a seriously tricky staircase (we are 75-somethings) and the house if filled with things to look at but not to use. -Museum-like. It is a great price, however, and perfectly located just steps from the famous Moonstone Beach and it's famous boardwalk. The kitchen and the reading room upstairs were heavenly. We would rent it again.

Very peaceful and comfortable cottage, equipped with everything. Quiet and only 1 block from moonstone walk for early sunrise and sunset walks. Clean and convenient to town.

Excellent is all ways. As I mentioned to one of your staff, the owners? or Scenic has a hand printed note at the bottom of the stairs, "to take off one's shoes when going up stairs." If this is a summer note, due to sand, I can understand--but it made no sense in December. Besides, it's dangerous. The wood is slippery--and it's very easy to fall when wearing socks. I hope the family and Scenic can resolve this issue before there's an accident. Other than that, a magical place.

We came to Cambria again this year for a full month. The house we chose was in a great location and had a lot of old world charm. Our experience with Scenic Coast Property Management was good and we recommend them highly.

Our group of six adults stayed at the Lightkeeper's House to celebrate a birthday. The house was spotless and spacious. Check-in was quick and easy. The house is perfectly located a block from Moonstone Beach, making beach walks convenient. The absolute jewel of the house is the kitchen. It is overstocked with pots, pans, utensils, dishes, spices and more. You literally are set to start cooking. The deck off the dining room was "the" gathering spot for breakfast and afternoon happy hour. Be sure to bring your docking station or a radio, as the house does not have one. As for suggestions to improve the stay, the house definitely needs a better BBQ. The small, rusty Weber did the job but it is a throwback. Also, the coffee pot is dated and really slow. Other than that, plenty of soft towels, great linens, comfy beds and breathtaking scenery. Unpack your bags, open the windows, listen to the surf and settle in to this true find by the sea.

We stayed here 11 years ago for our 20th anniversary and returned this month for our 31st. Everything with the house is still in top shape even after 11 years. Loved the kitchen, the garden, the view and especially the location.

We were a family with young kids and were pleasantly surprised how well equipped this house was - kitchen was well stocked with essential condiments, plenty of bedding sheets, a stroller were some key wins for us. Property Management team was responsive, flexible and handled our reservation, stay and checkout smoothly. Thank you for making our stay comfortable and memorable!

Enchanted and charming view home with beautiful touches.Tall ceilings, lovely mouldings, gorgeous wood floors. Lovely kitchen with a great big island with seating. spacious living room, gorgeous dining room. Huge Master bedroom. Wonderful, comfortable mattresses, cozy bedding and tons of towels! Sweet garden and spectacular viewing decks add to the enjoyment. Walk to the beach. Great location, A quiet and a restful spot.

We have stayed here before and the home is perfect for gathering family together. The outside area makes a perfect dining area for all ages. The beach is within an easy walk even if you are carting beach gear for little ones. The property is beautifully maintained and the property management is easy to deal with.

We love this little cottage with the sounds of the ocean, china plates and cozy bedrooms. Our favorite place to hang out is the kitchen! The views are amazing. There wasn't enough soap or toilet paper but other than that it was great.

This was perfect for our family! We meet up with members of our East Coast family here in California. This house is a perfect blend New England charm and beach cool! We were all so comfortable. The house is so well appointed we cooked in, enjoyed the "secret gardens", made a puzzle and watched sunsets for the porch! We will be back!!!
