A Skyhigh Retreat

We have rented this place many time over the years. it is comfortable, clean, well equipped and well maintained. If it's available we will stay there.

The house was well appointed with kitchen equipment, filtered water, an ice maker, plenty of linens, paper goods and everything you might need. The yard and deck are great for dogs and their humans with lots of trees and plenty of shade. It was nice to have 2 bedroom suites. A note to dog owners: the see-through stairs scared our corgi so we had to carry her up and down 3-flights which was ok bc she is small; however a few years back we had a 86-lb golden afraid of the open stairs too and we wouldn’t have been able to carry him. We know now to check on this before booking any place. The Roku wasn’t working so SCP and the owner were most kind in helping us in a timely manner. It was nice to have a garage to park in and it definitely felt like a well loved home.

We love staying at the house on Richard. This is our third time there. It’s set in a lovely wooded area with a view of the sea. The air is pure and fresh. The house is comfortable and welcoming and the patio is a great addition. Our dog loves it there because there is a self enclosed yard. The propert management staff are always nice and helpful. We love Cambria and the house.

We loved this home. We have stayed all over Cambria and used Scenic Coast for all our bookings. The home offers a lovely covered and uncovered deck and expansive views to the west. You can even see Hearst Castle when its clear. The neighborhood is fun to walk to around in and we easily drove to the beach and/or west and east villages in no time. It is also a nice quiet dark neighborhood with little light pollution at is dog friendly and the fenced yard was great for our large dog. The only issues were that the bed in the primary suite is a queen and there is no door, just two curtains. This offers little privacy and a king bed would offer more comfort. The kitchen is great and provided us with all the necessary utensils and appliances. This home is lovely and has obviously been loved by the owners who have taken care of it while also renting it out to families like ours.

My wife and I have been coming to Cambria for 25 years. We almost always stay in a different rental house when we come. The Skyhigh Retreat did not disappoint. Plenty of room for us, our 20 year old daughter, and our two dogs. Love the fenced in back yard! We love the area, too, because of all the wildlife we get to see: deer, hawks, wild turkeys, hummingbirds, and swallows are some faves.

The kitchen had everything needed to make a meal at home. We ended up eating out for every meal because we always want to hit our favorite restaurants when we’re in town: Linn’s for breakfast and desserts (and any meal, really), Main Street Grill for burgers and ribs, Friday afternoon farmers market for all sorts of goodies, Luigi’s pizza, Robins, Hidden Kitchen on the weekend, The Spot (Sweet & Savory Crepes!) Mezzo Italiano, Indigo Moon, so many favorites.

One word of caution for potential renters: There are a lot of stairs to deal with at Skyhigh. It’s nice that you can park in the garage, and then it’s one flight of stairs up to the main living area (kitchen, living room, bathroom, and 1 bedroom). And then it’s another flight of stairs up to the third level to the main bedroom. Not really a problem for us once we were there, but not great when you’re lugging suitcases in and out.

The house also needs a good power wash outside for all the dust and cobwebs all over the house and windows - but the new back deck was spotless, which was fantastic!

Definitely recommend. Would definitely stay here again!

This home was a very welcome change of pace and scenery for a much needed refresh. Stayed in this home several years ago and nothing has changed except for the nice addition to the backyard deck. The home is very well cared for and in great condition. Extremely clean and well stocked for your basic necessities...bring a few groceries and you won't need to leave if you don't feel like it.
The dog safe backyard is great if you are bringing dogs with you. Like the title, the open airy view provides the feeling of living in the treetops and the home design allows for plenty of light.
We adventured out for daily walk/hike-abouts with our dogs and maybe a meal then back in the PM to a very comfy hangout. Highly recommend!

We have stayed at this house many times and the recent upgrades were a pleasant surprise. The house is always neat and clean and is fully equipped. While not being familiar ROKU TV made it difficult and a frustrating to watch TV.

While the property management was professional if you do not like interacting with people. I prefer talking and meeting with the people I am dealing with. This might have been good during Covid, but not now! There was a small problem that looks like it resolved itself, but it would have been nice to communicate that upon check out.

We enjoyed our four night stay very much,only complaint is we wish could have been longer!

I felt like I was living among their trees and birds in this pleasant home. It was a wonderful stay—unless you hate climbing a few stairs. One thing I don’t like is how Vrbo is shortening stays with very late check-in times—and very early check-out times!

Very peaceful, and nice neighborhood for walks with the dogs. Very clean. Only thing to note is that the beds are not Kings, and my husband is tall so that wasn’t ideal. Also there are alot of stairs so harder for elderly dogs to go up and down (we have a very old senior so had to carry him up and down). Overall nice property and location.

Very charming home for a weekend

We had a wonderful time in Cambria. Highlights: the elephand seals, walking around the Fiscalini Ranch, visiting the Stolo Winery and going to Hearst's Castle. This is our third stay at the Skylight Retreat and we love it.

We absolutely loved this house. It is convenient to town (3 minute drive). Quiet. And surrounded by local wildlife - wild turkeys and deer. Well suited with everything you need.Nice kitchen. Backyard is great for dogs with easy in/out and fully fenced in. Deck of living room is a great spot to sit with a glass of wine and look off in distance. Wait, is that Hearst Castle I see. Have been coming to Cambria for 10 years - hope to come to this house many more times.

We loved our week at Skyhigh in Cambria! The house was exceptionally clean and well appointed. The dog bowls were a nice touch and the view off the front deck amazing! We’re frequent Cambria visitors and will stay there again. The only critique I have is that the beds are queens (not king size) and very soft.

This house longs for updates. There is no sense that it's been attended to and it feels very outdated. If that doesn't matter to you the house is fine. There was lipstick on a glass in cabinet and other dishes needed to be cleaned before using. We rent a house rather than stay in a hotel so we can cook. This house has NO BOWLS, a poor selection of glasses and NO wine glasses! There is no way to light the grill!
The knives are not sharp at all. Downstairs bathroom exhaust fan doesn't work. There is no CURRENT info about Cambria or the surrounding area. We know there's wind but the deck hadn't been swept and it made it look like house wasn't quite ready for renters. The appliances work well and there are lots of lightbulbs!

Enjoyed two weeks nestled in our house surrounded by wandering deer and inquisitive turkeys. Our house was located in the pines, a short mile to the shoreline. No grueling hot temperatures for us. Every morning we sat on our balcony with light jackets and at night we went to sleep burrowed in blankets as the cool air came in our window.

The house is very nice. Check in was extremely easy. I was surprised to find that the room on the top floor doesn't have a door. Even though the room is on a separate floor there is a lack of privacy with no door that I wished I would've known about. The house was clean and had everything you need. Overall, great location, great house.

Loved our stay in Cambria. The house was spacious, clean and well stocked. The dogs loved the fenced in backyard. Short drive to town and the beach. Can’t wait to visit again

This house is lovely, perfectly situated and has everything we needed. Comfortable beds, nice kitchen, lots of room. Would definitely stay again.

If stairs are an issue for you, this is definitely not your house to rent. There are 3 levels. The first level is the garage and the front door only so you have to go up 2 flights of stairs to the main level & then 2 more flights to get to the 2nd bed/bath. That said, the bedrooms are spacious, with balcony off the 2nd level. The bed on 2nd floor could be replaced to be as great as the one on the 3rd level. THe location is great for access to just about every thing. The house was well appropriated. We loved our stay there. Great back deck & yard. Fenced if you bring your dog. Had everything.

On our last full day, the fridge stopped working, but thankfully the repairman came out and the company provided a workaround for us - we were grateful to both the company and the owners for addressing the issue so quickly! Overall, a lovely stay, and I would definitely come back.

It was great

We loved our stay in the serene neighborhood. The fog coming in and out added to its beauty. The home is comfortable and kept up nicely. The main living area is two flights up, but once you are there you don't have to climb more. Others mentioned a musty smell, I did notice it in the foyer right off the garage, but this does not impact the living area of the home at all. You will love this place. We brought our granddaughter who is 8 and she loved it as well. Our fur babies felt right at home too. It is so nice to have a place that allows them to join us.

Nice home. Large decks and enclosed private back yard were the highlight of our vacation. Low points we’re bit musty odor when we arrived, beds not very comfortable and pillows were terrible. Cookware needs updating as well But appliances were perfect. Otherwise the home was great. Lots of stairs but doable. Loved the location. Peaceful and so many deer walking around.

I have stayed at the Zacher's rental several times before. The house was a great home base for our time in the area; and we enjoyed our stay.
Please let Eric know that the water filter filler spout, on the kitchen sink, is loose and spins. And that the exhaust fan in the powder room did not work. Neither was an issue. I hope you are able to return the stainless ladel that I left hanging on the stove exhaust hood.

Great rental. Lots of stairs, but very clean and furnished home. Quiet neighborhood. Even the wild turkeys are courteous.

A very cozy rental experience that we have always enjoyed...clean, fresh bedding, lovely beachy decor. Quiet location with only the sounds of the birds in the trees.

The property was in a nice quiet neighborhood..overall experience was good. It was just a little musty and cobwebs abound. The house is well stocked with amenities...would have been nice to have hair dryer.

Fantastic house hidden in a forested, quiet part of Cambria. House was clean, spacious, well-equipped, and great for my dog! Manager provided excellent customer service. Would stay here again.

The home was clean and comfortable. Beds were nice and firm. Kitchen was well appointed. Bathrooms lacked only a hair dryer. We have old dogs and found the open stairs too much for them. We ended up blocking them off (a pet gate would have made this convenient). The enclosed back yard has quite a slope but served us well. We enjoyed our stay.

You feel like your in a tree house that's full of light and views. This is the only vacation rental where we've stayed in Cambria (and there have been MANY) that we will return to. Don't miss it.

This house had everything we needed for a lovely weekend getaway. It was spotless and very well stocked with tons of towels, paper products, cookware, dishes, and even coffee, tea, spices, and condiments. The beds and the living room furniture are comfortable, so comfortable in fact that we rarely went out. The deer and wild turkey wandering the neighborhood are a delight. There are neighbors close by, but it was very quiet during our stay. My only wish is that there were a king-size bed.

We loved staying here over the new year. The house has a secure backyard for dogs. Gorgeous views from every level. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed for cooking and there were plenty of linens. Nice neighborhood for strolling around, too. We hope to return!

A really pretty house with a pet friendly fenced in yard complete with poop scoop & a back deck perfect for hanging out on.
We were amazed that the owners allowed pets as the house was spotless & not at all stripped down for dogs. very well appointed & everything was easy to find. (Only problem was washer was broken & the Cambria Laundramat is like something you'd find" out of country") Otherwise a lovely stay!!

We really enjoyed our stay in this home. Great house! It was very well stocked with everything you might need while away from home. The home was very clean and relaxation of the guests was definitely at the top of the list while setting this house up by the owners. We will definitely return if we can in the future.
